Smirnow Law, a Washington, D.C.-based firm with a focus on energy law, trade advisory strategy and clean energy advocacy was established in 2024. Founder John Smirnow’s career spans government service, large law firms, customs and import law, and senior leadership roles at the Solar Energy Industries Association.

John’s experience in a variety of roles and organizations uniquely positions him to help companies both within and outside the United States compete in the global clean energy economy. He did not actively promote his largely referral-based practice online initially, but ultimately decided that the time was right to create an online presence for Smirnow Law. The firm had a one-page website, but it did not reflect the depth of John’s expertise, nor the sophistication expected by large corporate clients. The Modern Firm’s website design team set about helping John create a full law firm website designed to elevate the firm’s digital presence and credibility, that would combat the misconception that only large law firms are capable of handling complex trade and advocacy matters. 

The firm’s custom logo features a globe image along with the firm’s name, a nod to the firm’s reach and international clientele. This theme is carried throughout the website’s design, with design elements throughout the site echoing the colors and shapes of the logo to create a visual brand that is both distinctive and cohesive. 

The site itself is uncluttered and easy to navigate, allowing visitors to quickly understand the credentials and experience of both John and the firm’s Government Affairs Manager Stefan Abarbieritei.

Smirnow Law may not be a large law firm. But after perusing its new law firm website, visitors will have no doubt that it is an exceptionally capable one.
