The Michigan attorneys of the Washtenaw County Bar Association (WCBA) practice throughout all areas of law and offer a great range of benefits to attorneys and their local community. Notably, the Washtenaw County Lawyer Referral & Information Service (LRIS), established in 1982, has served thousands of people in need of Michigan legal services by referring them to local attorneys — and providing information about alternative sources of legal assistance — for a nominal fee of $30. WCBA's Family Law Modest Means Program, which runs under LRIS guidelines, offers a focused program for individuals and families in need of family law and divorce services. Potential clients can apply to participate in the program and, when accepted, they receive family law services from a participating local attorney at modest, capped hourly rates.
The Modern Firm truly appreciates the opportunities we have had to work with WCBA over the years as the organization, and their online presence, have grown and evolved. The new website launched today includes a range of highlights intended to benefit both WCBA attorney members and the public. The site includes a custom-designed bar association member directory, information about joining the association, and information and applications for the LRIS and Modest Means programs. Extra perks include an events calendar and the WCBA photo gallery.
