Law practices evolve over time, and sometimes their websites need to evolve with them. Attorney Megan Wallace, of Bethesda, Maryland law firm Wallace Law, LLC turned to The Modern Firm when she realized her existing firm website no longer reflected her practice accurately. She had phased out some practice areas, while others, such as probate, estate planning, and trust administration made up almost all of her practice. It was time, she decided, to give prospective clients a clearer picture of what she does (and why she’s good at it).
The firm serves clients in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. as well as in Maryland, where it is based. One of the challenges Megan faced was highlighting her probate work in all three places. She wanted the website to provide useful information to prospective clients, but the law varies somewhat from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. The firm needed a site with content that was specific enough to be helpful, but general enough to be of interest to all readers.
And because that particular region of the country is pretty densely populated with attorneys, it also needed to make Megan stand out. Among her current and past clients, she’s known for being not only knowledgeable, but approachable and good at explaining the law to clients. That, and Megan’s other unique qualifications, needed to shine through in the website.
Megan made use of The Modern Firm’s customized law firm writing services. After conferring with our Writing Director, Megan decided it made sense to have a Probate page for each jurisdiction in which she works, so she could highlight her knowledge of the laws of each area. She then partnered with one of The Modern Firm’s attorney-writers to prepare new practice area pages that showed off not only Megan’s knowledge and training, but her personality as well.
Words alone don’t make a website, of course. Megan selected a website design in crisp, eye-catching blue and white, with homepage text overlaying a distinctive nighttime scene of the District of Columbia. The home page also prominently features a smiling picture of Megan, and buttons linking directly to each of her practice areas. At a glance, visitors to the site immediately understand who she is, what she does, and where she does it.
